Permanent laser hair removal sounds like a dream come true. Well, perhaps the laser part sounds a little scary. But think about the permanent aspect. No more shaving, tweezing, cream hair removal, waxing, or any of those pesky hair removals methods.
The fancy word is epilation. It's just another way of saying removal of hair. Since we are into looking at the fancy words, how about "phototricholysis" and "photoepilation". These are just another way to say laser hair removal.

Laser hair removal actually has spread out to mean any kind of mechanical permanent hair removal. Some are not laser-based. One example is the light-based epilator, Xenon Flash Lamp. This lamp produces an intense pulse light. It's one of the more popular methods and is usually referred to as laser hair removal.

If you suffer from bumps, ingrown hairs, and skin that is darkened by shaving, you might want to consider laser hair removal. If laser treatment is not always laser treatment, what about the permanency factor? Aha, apparently it is not always permanent either. The Intense Light Pulse (IPL) machines do not permanently stop the growth of body hair. The permanent laser hair removal concept is misleading because this treatment reduces the hair permanently but does not remove it permanently.

In 1998, FDA regulator Richard Felten restricted advertising "permanent laser hair removal" to "permanent laser hair reduction" since this is the more accurate way of describing the results which are that the hair does grow back but it grows back lighter colored and finer.

For permanent removal, a person has to have follow-up electrolysis until the hair no longer grows back. Usually six to eight sessions will give a more permanent result. Other factors involved in hair removal include skin color, hair texture, the area being treated, and past attempts at hair removal.

You can remove hair permanently with electrolysis. This has been in use for 125 years. This method removes the hair one at a time and would be costly and a lengthy procedure for a hairy person. A combination of Intense Light Pulse or laser followed by electrolysis is the best bet for permanent hair removal.
